Arisi parupu Kozhukattai


Arisi Parupu Kozhukattai can be served for Breakfast or as a snack.
It can also be made for festivals.
This is a healthy recipe since its steam cooked.

Quantity used below can serve : 2 people

Ingredients :

To grind :

Rice - 100 gm
Toor dhal - 50 gm
Cumin - 1 tbsp
Peppercorn - 4
Asafoetida - a pinch
Curry leaves - 1 string
Salt - as required

To fry :

Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Channa dhal - 1 tbsp
Onion - 2 (medium sized)
Carrot - 1 (medium sized)
Beans - 4 nos
Water -  200 ml
Coconut (grated) - 4 tbsp

Method :

1.  In a blender, put all the ingredients mentioned above as 'TO GRIND'. Grind them and set aside

                   

2. Heat 2 Tbsp of oil in a kadai. Add mustard and channa dhal, fry for few minutes.
 
                      

3.  Add onion and fry till it turns brown in colour.

  

4. Add carrot and beans to the pan and keep frying for 2 minutes.


5. Add the grinded mixture into the pan and mix well.

                     

6. Add water to the pan and allow it to boil. (make it like Upma)
 
                     

7. Finally add grated coconut and mix well. Allow it to cool.

                                     

8. Later shape it into any form of  your choice.
    Place them in the idli pan and allow it to boil for 10 minutes on medium flame.
