Sundakkai vathal kuzhambu


Sundakkai vathal kuzhambu can be served for lunch.

Quantity mentioned below can be used for : 2 people

Ingredients :

Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Manathakkali dried seeds - 3 tbsp
Dried sundakkai - 3 tbsp
Vadakam (sun dried onion mustard for aroma) - 2 tbsp
Onion - 1 medium (chopped)
Garlic pods - 4 (chopped)
Tomato - 1 medium (chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder - 1.5 tsp
Fenugreek seed powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as required
Tamarind water - prepared from tamarind equal to 1/4 of the shape of a medium sized lemon.
Water

Method :

1. Heat oil in a pan.




2. Add mustard, curry leaves and urad dhal to the pan. Wait for it to splutter.




3. Add dried manathakkali seeds to the pan. Let it fry well on medium flame.



4. Add vadakam to the pan.



5. Now add the dried sundakkai and fry for 5 minutes.

                   


6. Add chopped onion and garlic. Fry till the onion turns brown.



7. Add chopped tomato and salt. Cook till the tomatoes turn mushy.




8. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, fenugreek seed powder. Let it cook for 5-10 minutes.




9. Add tamarind water and mix well. Also add water as required.



10. Let it boil on medium flame till oil oozes out.



Serve sundakkai vathal kuzhambu with Hot Rice...
