Thattai

Thattai is a traditional South Indian Crispy Snack.

Quantity mentioned below can make 20 medium sized Thattai's.

Ingredients :

Butter - 1 tbsp
Rice Flour - 150 gm
Urad dhal flour - 1 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Salt - as required
Fried gram - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - few
Oil - to deep fry

Method

1. In a bowl, add rice flour, urad dhal flour, chilli powder, hing, salt, fried gram, curry leaves and
butter. Add very little water and mix all the ingredients really well to form a thick dough.

2. Take 2 plastic paper / cling film / ziplock cover. Grease the inner sides of the plastic sheet.
With a small ball of dough placed between the two plastic sheets, flatten it really thin.

3. Using a fork, prick holes all over the flattened dough. So that the entire thattai gets cooked
    equally well.

4. Heat oil in a pan.

5. Drop the flattened dough into the pan to deep fry.
Flip over and let it cook on the other side.

6. Remove the cooked Thattai's to a paper towel / tissue to drain the excess oil.
Once cooled, store them in an air tight container.
