Medhu Vada (Ulundhu Vada)


Medhu Vada can be served for breakfast / festive season.

Quantity used below can make 8 medium sized Vada.

Ingredients :

Oil - deep fry
Urad dhal - 50 gm
Onion - 1 medium (chopped)
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Green chilli - 1 chopped
Curry leaves - few
Salt - as required
Peppercorns - 10 nos / pepper - 1 tbsp


Method :

1. Soak urad dhal in water for 3 hours. (Soak in hot water for 10 minutes for quick results)




2. Drain the water and add the dhal to a blender.

                 



3. Chop onion, ginger, green chilli and add it to the blender.

               


4. Blend well without adding water. If required add very few drops of water.




5. Transfer the content to a bowl.



     
6. Add salt, pepper and curry leaves. Mix well




7. Heat oil to deep fry.




8. Take small portions of Vada dough, make a hole in the middle and drop it in medium hot oil.

                      



9. Flip it over and Fry till it turns golden brown in colour.
